Being a Mom is one of my biggest blessings. I am confident that all Moms will agree our baby's comfort is a top priority when it comes to sleep time. Pillows pillows pillows there are so many cute, adorable pillows! But are they safe? Personally, I never used a pillow in my son's crib. It is recommended to wait until 12 months to place anything such as pillows in their crib. Safety Tip: Placing babies on their backs is the only safe way for sleeping. Newborns will sleep on their backs until they are able to turn over on their own. Since pillows are not recommended until the baby reaches 12 months one might be concerned about Positional Plagiocephaly, also known as Flat Head. Usually, this is not medically worrisome and often temporary. This does not affect brain growth or development its purely a shape issue. I found the following very helpful to reduce flat head, when checking on your baby during sleep time, reposition their head from right to left and left to right. Holding your baby during the daytime and having plenty of tummy time will also help.
